Buttercup Barn Nursery, Haywards Heath

We are situated on the outskirts of the village of Balcombe in West Sussex. Its two converted barns compliment the countryside setting in which it stands; boasting picturesque views across working farmland.

The larger of the two barns provides a large, fully equipped learning environment for our pre-schoolers, who are aged between 2 ¼ and 5 years. Whilst the smaller barn provides three separate, inter-connected learning environments for our toddlers aged between 1 ¼ and 2 ¼ years, and a bright, open learning space for our babies, who flourish in a nurturing, home from home environment.

Both barns open out onto our outdoor learning environments, giving a courtyard feel and are equipped with a large sandpit, climbing apparatus and digging area.

I began my career in childcare as a registered Childminder in April 2001. I completed NVQ Early Years Care and Education Level 3 in 2007, whilst working as a Nursery Assistant in a pre-school setting. I then became a Lead Practitioner at a Montessori Nursery where I completed the Foundation Degree in Early Years Care and Education in July 2011. I Joined Clover Court Nursery as a Deputy Manager in August 2011, and then was promoted to Nursery Manager at Buttercup Barn Nursery in February 2012.

I started working at Buttercup Barn in April 2014 as a Nursery Assistant. In August 2015, I completed my Level 3 whilst working in the baby room. I then took on the role of Team Leader before becoming Deputy Manager in February 2017. I currently oversee both the baby and toddler rooms and especially enjoy taking the children outdoors to explore the garden.

Early childhood education and care has always been very important to me and a job I love. This grew even more when I had my own two children. There is nothing like having two children of your own go through child care settings to really put into focus the incredible responsibility and importance of our roles. My love of early years and parenting is what drives me to ensure we are delivering quality to the children in our settings. I commenced the role of Regional Manager for Childcare & Learning Group in August 2018, having previously been the Area Manager since January 2016, after many years working as Manager at Castle Nursery & Preschool in Guildford at our Markenfield setting. During my time as manager, I completed my B.Ed. in Early Years and then went on to complete my Masters in Early Years. For the Cranbrook group of nurseries, I am the Regional Manager directly responsible for our Acorn Cottage and Buttercup Barn settings.

We know that Cranbrook is only as good as the relationship between our staff and our customers (the big ones and the little ones!) and we plan to continue listening and responding to parents’ needs, quickly and effectively.
