Ivy Cottage, Shipley Bridge
Welcome to our highly rated nursery situated on Balcombe Road, where children are welcomed into a nurturing and enriching environment designed to inspire learning, growth and exploration. With a capacity for 72 children, our nursery offers a vibrant and dynamic setting for young minds to flourish. One of the standout features of our nursery is our expansive outdoor space, spanning over an acre, providing ample room for children to play, discover and connect with nature.
Within this outdoor haven, we have a dedicated area for our onsite forest school, where children can engage in hands-on outdoor learning experiences, develop their curiosity and foster a love for the natural world.
At our nursery, we believe in the power of community and collaboration. We work closely with our sister sites to create a network of support and resources, enhancing the educational experience for our children. In addition, we actively engage in community activities such as organising visits to Wykeham House Care home, where children have the opportunity to interact and bring joy to the residents through meaningful interactions and shared experiences.
With a focus on holistic development, creativity and social responsibility our nursery provides a well-rounded and enriching early years education for children. Through a combination of play based learning, structured activities and our community engagement we strive to empower children to reach their full potential and become confident, compassionate young children.
Join us at our exceptional nursery on the Balcombe Road, where children can thrive in a supportive and stimulating environment that nurtures their curiosity, creativity, and love for learning. Experience the magic of childhood and the joy of exploration in a setting that values community, collaboration and the well-being of every child.
Jodie Day, Nursery Manager
Having joined the company in 2009 as a dedicated member of staff without formal childcare qualifications, I am proud to have been supported by the company in achieving my Level 3 qualification in childcare. My journey within the company has been one of growth and development, leading to various promotions over the years.
In 2017, I was promoted to Team Leader at Acorn Cottage, and in 2020, I was honored to be promoted to Deputy Manager at our Outstanding nursery. In June 2023, I took on the role of Nursery Manager at Ivy Cottage, where I continue to uphold the high standards set by Cranbrook.
My decision to pursue a career in childcare was influenced by my family’s involvement in the field. At Cranbrook, I appreciate the opportunity to work across different nurseries and the freedom to implement innovative ideas within the learning environments. I am deeply passionate about creating a nurturing environment for children, training staff, supporting their development, and fostering strong partnerships with parents.
Outside of my role at the nursery, I enjoy supporting Crystal Palace football club, baking cakes for special occasions, and challenging myself physically, such as completing the London to Brighton bike ride three times. I am committed to providing a caring and enriching experience for all children at Ivy Cottage
Alice Fuller, Deputy Manager
With a decade of experience in the childcare industry, I have held various roles including practitioner, room leader, and nursery manager before assuming my current position as Deputy Manager at Ivy Cottage.
My passion for working in childcare stems from the opportunity to support children during their crucial early stages of development. Collaborating with parents to ensure each child thrives is a key aspect of my role that I find particularly rewarding. I also value the benefits of outdoor learning experiences, as they provide children with a broader understanding and contribute to their overall development.
In August 2024, I will be embarking on a new journey as a first-time parent to my own little girl. The insights and support I have gained from engaging with parents at the nursery have been invaluable as I prepare for motherhood, allowing me to share ideas and experiences while also learning from others.
I am committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for children at Ivy Cottage, working collaboratively with parents to support each child’s growth and development.
