Kelly Pearce, Nursery Manager

With 27 years of experience in the childcare industry, I am proud to have started my career at Cranbrook immediately after completing my childcare qualification in college. Beginning as a student, I have had the opportunity to grow and develop within the company, ultimately becoming a manager at Buttercup Barn.

My passion for childcare began while watching my nieces and nephews grow and develop, inspiring me to pursue a career in this field. I appreciate Cranbrook’s commitment to allowing each nursery to reflect the personality and individual experiences of its staff, creating a welcoming and unique environment for children to thrive.

Located in a picturesque rural setting on farm land, Buttercup Barn offers scenic views and a strong sense of community within the village. I have fostered partnerships with local organizations such as the church, care home, and allotment, further enriching the experience for both children and families.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by going on country walks and visiting the gym. I have a passion for football, having played semi-professionally and swum for Sussex in the past. I am dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for children to learn and grow at Buttercup Barn.

Alicia Phillipps, Deputy Manager

I’m Alicia, and I’ve been the enthusiastic Deputy Manager at Buttercup Barn since 2024. My journey started as an apprentice in 2020, and with the fantastic guidance from Cranbrook, I earned my Level 3 childcare qualification. This experience fueled my passion for helping fellow staff members embark on their own childcare adventures.

I chose to work in childcare because I wanted to support the extraordinary, individual stories of each child as they navigate their futures. Every day brings new experiences, and I love the unique challenges that come with it.

Each milestone we celebrate together makes a real difference, and I’m committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where every child can grow into a confident, curious, and independent individual.

Additionally, I have a keen interest in the natural world. Thanks to Cranbrook’s support, we’ve established fantastic natural learning areas at Buttercup Barn, featuring a chicken coop, a worm composting farm, and our own allotment. These initiatives allow our children to immerse themselves in nature and explore its wonders every day. Let’s make every moment a memorable adventure together!
